A positive change for Ashby and Blackfordby Debra Jackson, Labour Candidate for Ashby de la Zouch
Debra Jackson is the candidate for the Ashby de la Zouch division of Leicestershire County Council.
Debra has lived in many places including Paris, Loire Valley, Benbecula, and Bristol, as well as other places before settling here in North West Leicestershire after falling in love with the area.
Debra has worked with children most of her life in roles as a nanny, childminder and teacher. As a teacher, she took on positions in schools and colleges with SEN pupils or those growing up in disadvantaged areas. She has run several free drama groups for underprivileged teens, volunteering her time and passion so young adults could have a chance to learn new skills that encourage confidence, as well as a safe place for them to explore their strengths and talents.
She is passionate that all children and adults have access to a decent education, as well as solid future careers.
Debra has taken part in runs and cycling events to raise awareness and money for various charities, and is an online activist for improving the planet for the benefit of future generations.
Debra is also a performance poet, working solely with her own work, and has a Master’s degree in creative writing.
She is mum to 2 adult children and 2 school children, she also has 2 granddaughters. She loves reading and is a keen biker.
